Doris Byrd, 84, of DeLand, passed away on February 11 at Florida Hospital DeLand. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, she was a long time resident of this area. Doris drove a school bus for Volusia County Schools for many years before she retired. She was an avid motorcyclist and a proud member of the Motor Maids, Int'l organization for 40 years. Doris traveled throughout the US and Canada at her own pace and never met a stranger. Her wide smile, open, easy personality endeared her to everyone she encountered. She leaves behind her cherished friends, Marlyn and Melissa Moir, Lisa Coons, the women riders of Motor Maids and Dolly Curtis and the gang at Dolly's Tavern. The Celebration of Life service will be held at Dolly's Tavern, 1410 E. New York Ave., DeLand, on Saturday, Feb. 27th at 3pm.
