2018-10-24 Mary Ellen Binns DD OH

Mary Ellen was born on June 16, 1951 at Camp Polk, Louisiana and passed on October 24, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. Raised in Cleveland, Ohio by her parents William & Elaine Straub, she attended John Marshall High School and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from The Ohio State University. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband - John Binns, son - Carl Binns, brother - David Straub, and granddaughter Taylor Woung. As a high school teacher and coach for nearly 30 years in Central Ohio, she got involved in countless tough situations to help make a positive difference for young people. Her greatest career satisfaction was in learning that former students had obtained their college degree and/or were making a positive difference in the lives of others. She also enjoyed: traveling all over the globe, skiing, motorcycling, boating, quilting, and cooking (Mary Ellen's "7-Layer Cake" was the best in the world). There will be a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, November 17, 2018 . Mary Ellen was a Motor Maid since 1987 and was Ohio's current district Director.
